The Texas Society for Music Theory will hold its 47th annual meeting on February 28 - March 1, 2025, on the campus of Baylor University, with Amy Fleming serving as local arrangements coordinator. Jennifer Snodgrass, Professor and Academic Director at Lipscomb University, will deliver the keynote address. Rachel Mann, Cynthia Gonzales, and Amy Hatch will lead a plenary pedagogy session on music from Latin America. The conference will be held in person and streamed online for distance viewing.
All conference sessions will take place on the campus of Baylor University in rooms on the fifth floor of the Cashion Academic Center (located in D6 on this detailed campus map.)
A TSMT luncheon will be held on Friday in a private room at the East Village Dining Hall (just a short 7-minute walk from Cashion). East Village offers a variety of culinary options and costs just $12 for all-you-can-eat lunch. We encourage you to register for the lunch with your TSMT conference registration/dues in order to keep things streamlined on the day of.
Baylor also has three other dining halls, as well as an on-campus Chick Fil-A, Panda Express, Asian Tako, Rising Roll, and Starbucks locations.
By Car:
Baylor University is located on the I-35 corridor, about halfway between Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin. For those coming from the southeast, use Highway 6. See directions for parking below.
By Air:
The Waco Regional Airport (ACT) is serviced by American Airlines with connecting service to the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport (DFW).

There are numerous other hotel and Airbnb options in town, and nothing is very far of a drive in Waco.

Visitor parking is available in the Speight Plaza Garage, which is located at 1521 South 4th Street, Waco, TX 76706. When heading east on University Parks Dr., turn right onto Bagby Ave., then right onto 4th Street. The Speight parking garage will be on your left.
Before you arrive on campus, visit the Baylor University Parking site and obtain a free visitor parking permit to ensure that you can park without issue. Cashion Academic Building is located just across Speight Ave. from the parking garage.
There are numerous dining options in Waco. Some local recommendations include: Alpha Omega Grill & Bakery (Greek/Mediterranean), Hecho en Waco (Mexican/Tex-Mex), Pivovar (Czech), and numerous barbecue restaurants (Terry Black's, Helberg, Guess BBQ, Vitek's). Waco also features several museums, such as the on-campus Mayborn Museum, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum, the Dr Pepper Museum, and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. For those interested in outdoor activities (and weather permitting), Waco is also home to the Cameron Park Zoo and to the excellent hiking and biking trails and scenic overlooks of Cameron Park.
