Timed Repetitive Quizzes (TRQs), developed by Chem21Labs.com, help students commit crucial material from chemistry courses to their long-term memories. TRQs have been demonstrated to improve student learning when compared to other study methods. Applying the TRQ method to music theory fundamentals can help students commit course content to students' long-term memories, prepare students for more higher-level engagement with the material, and give students immediate feedback via automated online grading. In this poster, I explain how TRQs can be adopted into fundamental music theory courses by providing a prototype model used in Theory I courses, sample questions derived from various units in the fundamental theory curriculum, and research showing the effectiveness of spaced repetition, retrieval practice, and interleaving in committing valuable information to long-term memory.
