The keynote speaker is Janet Schmalfeldt from Tufts University, President of the Society for Music Theory. Among numerous publications and presentations, Professor Schmalfeldt is especially known for her contributions to Berg studies. Her current research, which addresses issues of analysis and performance, will serve as the basis for her keynote address on the music of Schubert.
Continuing TSMT tradition, a luncheon has been arranged for midday Friday. A buffet consisting of roast chicken, roast beef, and a variety of vegetables and salads will be given in the University Hotel Concourse, adjacent to the Music Department. The cost of the luncheon is $14. If you wish to attend, please include this amount in your remittance along with your registration.
For accomodations, the University Hotel provides both an excellent rate ($34+tax pernight for one person/$39+tax per night for two; all rooms have two double beds) and convenient location (adjacent to the Music building.
